3M’s S2400 security window film is an optically clear, polyurethane-based window film that functions differently than PET-based window films. Because urethane is softer and more flexible than PET, it provides greater stretch capabilities over PET resin-based films of similar thickness. This stretch is called elongation, a key measure of energy absorption. Higher elongation helps absorb more energy from the force of impact.
The S2400 security window film measures 24 mils in thickness and provides elongation 4X that of a 22-mil PET film.

Impact Resistance
3M’s S2400 is engineered to stretch instead of tear to provide greater energy absorption from impact. The S2400-certified elongation rate is 560%, compared to 130% for PET-based films of comparable thickness.
Tear Resistance
Utilizing the Graves Tear test (ASTM D1004) to measure stretch and force, the tear resistance for S2400 24-mil film ranked 2/3rd higher than PET-based 22-mil film, thus enabling S2400 to better absorb energy from an impact.
Ultra-Clear Visibility
Visible light transmission for S2400 is 89%, enabling a solid layer of security while preserving a high level of transparency and optical clarity.
UV Protection
Ultraviolet light entering through glass windows is the single most significant cause of fading on building interiors and a major contributor to skin cancers. S2400 effectively blocks 99% of harmful UV rays, helping protect your building assets and tenants.
